Urgent: Opportunity for a Tanzanian forestry graduate

We are looking for an exceptional Tanzanian graduate with a BSc or MSc in a forest-related subject, to apply for a PhD fellowship. The successful candidate will then write a proposal with our team for submission at the end of July. If you are interested in a PhD in forest restoration, and you meet the following essential requirements, then please get in touch as detailed below:

Essential criteria:

– Less than 5 years post graduation from a forest-related BSc
– At least one peer-reviewed publication in an international journal, preferably first author
– Experience in tree-planting
– Working experience of quantitative statistical analysis
– Excellent written and spoken English
– At least six months of experience working in Tanzanian forests, preferably moist forests
– Availability to discuss the opportunity in Morogoro, and to make a 2 day visit to our field research site in the Kilombero Valley at short notice
(we strictly won’t consider anyone who does not meet all of these criteria)

And some desirable criteria:

– Good knowledge of GIS
– Good knowledge of R software
